One of my favorite activities while in treatment was equine therapy.
The horses taught me how I showed up in my relationship with myself and others – and I had a hoot of a time with the horses!
At the stables one sun-filled morning, we were doing “check-ins” with the therapist on how we were feeling. I was honest and said, “I don’t think my existence matters”. Her reply forever changed my life:
“You don’t have to believe for it to be true”.
Come to find out, you don’t have to feel it for it to be true either!
However, as I discussed last week, to create emotionally healthy, intimate relationships we need to thrive, we must acknowledge and embrace the truth of our own inherent worth.
From there, allowing that truth to move from our head to our heart enables us to genuinely love ourselves and others in the midst of our imperfect humanity.
In other words, we need to believe it at a heart level!
And that’s what I discussed in this week’s Live @ 1:05, in Part 2 of the ABC’s of Emotional Intimacy: Believe in Your Inherent Worth.
If you now someone who would benefit from this, please share!
